Wow...so today marks the first day of my running journey officially!! Well didn't I get a wake up call - I did not realise just how unfit I actually am!! It's incredible! I thought...pfft I'll be right! Well holy cow - barely 5 minutes in (minus the warm up!) and I was ready to die!!
Starting from my front door I hit GO on the workout app and I had begun! By the time I walked to the oval and parked Baby Boy in the middle on the cricket pitch (all rugged up and cosy) the warm up was over and it was time to begin!! So off I went running around the soccer goals at either end made for some great sized laps without looking too daunting for my unfit body!!
Music going and the app prompting me when to run (60secs) and walk (90 secs) I was on my way to being A RUNNER!!! At one point I was getting bored and then I heard 'brrrddinngg...you have reached half way' - well that certainly spurred me on to keep going didn't it!! That's not to say I wasn't willing to give up and throw in the towel but I managed to power through and make it to the end! Next thing I know I hear...'Cool Down' so I grabbed Baby Boy and pushed his pram back home with the workout perfectly timed to end at my front door!
The weather was sunny which was perfectly motivating to get out and about but man was it frosty! The chilly morning didn't help the pain in my chest when I was running but all in all I am soo happy that I managed to find the motivation to get out of the house and really start this!
It's motivated a friend of mine to do the same so hopefully we can do this and not give up!!! Baby boy was perfectly behave the whole time - just sat in his pram watching me go round in circle - probably thought mummy was a loony! LOL But that's ok! Let's hope the fresh air does wonders for him!!
Tomorrow I will try and get in some resistance training to help build some muscle strength and with a bit of luck betweek the C25k and some resistance training I'll be back in shape in no time!!!

The Beginning - Motivation, where are you??
Ok so this is the beginning of what I hope to be a successful attempt at running and getting fit! I figure maybe if I blog about it I'll feel accountable to keep going! So here I am...
I'm 26, female, I have a 6 month old son and only work part-time - so plenty of opportunity to run right?? So what's holding me back?
I am trying so hard to find the motivation but the weather in Melbourne in June really isn't helping! It is so wet and miserable oustide it just doesn't look enticing! Really it doesn't! But thats really just a lame excuse because really once I start running I won't really notice the rain - infact I love being out in the rain!
Another excuse - my delightful son has decided that sleeping is overrated and partying all night is where it's at! Unfortunately he won't take my no for an answer and I am forced to participate in his shennanigans!! But again - lame excuse, I function fine during the day on limited sleep and many people do it so I need t suck it up and stop being a sook...
I don't enjoy road running and would prefer to run around an oval or track... well I'm in the process of hunting down an athletics track open to the public and whilst in summer there are plenty of ovals to run around in winter the amount of places lit up is limited..but again I need to stop being a princess and just run on the road!!!
So clearly I have no genuine excuses and just need to do it!! So I'm downloading the c25k app on my phone today and will get running..soon!!
What are my motivations to run??
Weight loss - whilst I weight the same before I did before I got pregnant I was about 6-8kg unhappy with my weight! I'm not overweight or anything but definitely don't look in the mirror and think 'smokin'! LOL so need to up my cardio and shift this weight!!
Fitness - I've always wanted to be one of those people that can just run! Like it's not an effort, they just keep going and going... I've admired those people and am determined to do that myself!
Work - I'm studying to be a personal trainer...how can I justify telling clients all this stuff if I'm not willing to do it myself???
And just for me - I give so much to my partner, my son and my friends that this...this I want to do for me!!!
So here I go....
